Antenatal Courses
I have been running Couples NCT Antenatal courses in Woking and Knaphill since 1999.
When I was pregnant with my first son, I was very relieved to find out that there was no 'Right' way to give birth! The way YOU choose is the right way for you.
However In order to make the decision about what is right for you it can be helpful to have access to information from many sources. NCT courses aim to provide you with the information you need to decide what choices are right for you.
The courses are run in small informal groups, with couples expecting a baby around the same time as you (normally within 2 or 3 weeks). This creates a wonderful environment for shared experience and many groups make lifelong friends. They give you an opportunity to ask questions and make informed decisions about your labour and baby's birth.
Topics covered include;
- Coping with the last weeks of pregnancy
- How do I know I am in labour and when to go to hospital
- The physical process of birth
- Coping strategies for birth
- Pain relief
- The 1st 6 weeks
- Coping with a new baby
Each course is taliored to the needs of the group.
I generally run courses that consist of 3 or 4 Thursday evenings and a Saturday session at the A2 in Goldsworth Park (next to Waitrose)
I also run Refresher courses for those expecting their second or subsequent baby. These consist of a Saturday session for Mum's and then a 2 hour evening session for couples. Refresher courses give you the opportunity to focus on this pregnancy preparing for labour, feeding and adapting to life with more than one child. The courses are tailored to the groups needs and are very informal and discussion based.
